Well under way
The first ever Sunday School curriculum for the Syriac Orthodox Church is well under way and progress continues to be made every day!
As of January 18, 2012, Parables & Books is nearing completion of Unit One for the Kindergarten grade level. Each grade level will have a corresponding teacher’s manual in addition to the students’ workbooks. Also, special books full of arts and crafts and supplemental activities will be provided for Kindergarten through Second Grade.
Once Units One and Two of Kindergarten have been completed, Parables & Books will submit them for approval to a board of clergy and teachers representing the East and West Coast of the Syriac Orthodox Church of the United States. Future units will be assessed upon the review of the first lessons.
The theme of Kindergarten, God Loves Us, will be a central component of the overall direction of the academic year. By the end of Kindergarten, Sunday School students will have been taught and exposed to basic aspects of the Faith of the Orthodox people.
The new Kindergarten curriculum is slated to be completed by this spring.
